Sassafras Cats was born in 1875 in the swamps outside New Orleans. She was orphaned as a young teenager and, along with her brother Jesse, raised her baby sister Delilah. Sassafras is the first of the Cats children to meet Agatha, the earthbound goddess of the swamp. She learns herbal healing and other mystic skills from the nymphs of the swamp.
