The Bones of the Forest takes place in a society that doesn’t think of itself as dystopian. Most citizens live within the safety net and are perfectly happy with their existence. Amanda is perfectly happy living with her family inside the safety net. However, when her father gets a job outside the safety net, she discovers a world she never knew existed. When she finds a journal left behind long ago, she begins to realize that her world might not be as safe as it seems.
